The dried herb of oregano is more flavorful than the fresh herb. Oregano is also used in tomato sauces, grilled meat and fried vegetables. Oregano is high in antioxidant activity, due to a high content of phenolic acids and flavornoids. In South Asia oregano used as primarily as a medicinal plants, the leaf is roasted and the essence is had, to get relief from cold, sore throat, phlegm and cough.
