Oregano grow from 20-80 cm tall with opposite leaves 1-14 cm long. The flowers are purple 3-mm long and produced in erect spikes. There are many kinds of oregano and some of them is not considered the best for culinary uses. Greek oregano is generally considered the best for culinary uses. The dried herb of oregano is more flavorful than the fresh herb. Oregano is also used in tomato sauces, grilled meat and fried vegetables. Oregano is high in antioxidant activity, due to a high content of phenolic acids and flavornoids. In South Asia oregano used as primarily as a medicinal plants, the leaf is roasted and the essence is had, to get relief from cold, sore throat, phlegm and cough. For me it is true that oregano is a medicinal plants as it stop me from coughing when I drink the juice. If you have cough or phlegm and other kind of illness try oregano.
