Skunks are omnivorous

I never know about skunk until I am 20 years old. I seen skunk on movie when I was 21 year's old. I'd say they look real pretty but they are dangerous and most stinky animals. How I wish they are not dangerous and stinky animals. Skunks are mammals best known for their ability to secrete a liquid with a strong, foul-smelling odor. There are 10 species of skunks which are divided into four genera the first one is Mephitis which are hooded and striped skunks. The second is Spilogale which are spotted skunks. The third one is Mydaus which are stink badgers and the last one is Conepatus which are hog-nosed skunks. Skunk are omnivorous, they can eat both plants and animal material and changing their diets as the seasons change. Skunk eat the following insects; larvae, earthworms, small rodents lizards, salamanders, frogs, snakes, birds, moles and eggs. They also commonly eat berries, roots, leaves, grasses, fungi, and nuts.

How can you identify a skunk? It is a small species with long tail, long front claws, well muscled legs and adorable appearance. A skunk species vary in size from about 15.6 to 37 inches and in weight from about 1.1 pounds to 18 pounds. A skunk have moderately elongated body with relatively short, well-muscled legs, and long front claws for digging. The skunk spray spit can cause irritation and even temporary blindness and is sufficiently powerful to be detected by a human nose anywhere up to a mile downwind.
